3. General Principles
3.1 What data do we collect from you and from whom do we receive it?
Primarily, we process personal data that you provide to us or that we collect when operating our website. We may also receive personal data about you from third parties. This may include the following categories:
- Basic personal data (name, address, birth dates, etc.);
- Contact details (mobile number, email address, etc.);
- Financial data (e.g., account information);
- Online identifiers (e.g., cookie ID, IP addresses);
- Location and traffic data;
- Audio and visual recordings;
- Special category data (e.g., biometric data or health information).
3.2 Under what conditions do we process your data?
We treat your data confidentially and process it according to the purposes set out in this privacy policy. We strive to ensure transparent and proportionate data processing.
If, in exceptional cases, we are unable to comply with these principles, the processing may still be lawful if a legal justification exists. This may include:
- Your consent;
- Performance of a contract or pre-contractual measures;
- Our legitimate interests, provided your interests do not override ours.
3.3 How can you withdraw your consent?
If you have given us consent to process your personal data for specific purposes, we will process your data within the scope of this consent, unless we have another legal basis.
You can withdraw your consent at any time by sending an email to the address listed in the imprint. This does not affect any data processing already carried out.
3.4 In which cases do we share your data with third parties?
a. General Rule
We may rely on third-party services or affiliated companies to process your data (so-called data processors). Categories of recipients include in particular:
- Accounting, fiduciary, and audit firms;
- Consulting firms (legal, tax, etc.);
- IT service providers (web hosting, support, cloud services, web design, etc.);
- Payment service providers;
- Providers of tracking, conversion, and advertising services.
We ensure that these third parties and our affiliates comply with data protection requirements and treat your personal data confidentially.
In some cases, we may also be required to disclose your personal data to authorities.
b. Visiting Our Social Media Channels
We may have embedded links to our social media channels on our website, which are clearly visible (typically via icons). By clicking the icons, you are redirected to our social media channels.
The social media providers will then know that you accessed their platform from our website. They may use this data for their own purposes. Please note that we have no knowledge of the content or use of the transmitted data by these providers.
c. Transfers Abroad
In the course of data processing, your personal data may be transferred to companies abroad. These companies are subject to the same level of data protection obligations as we are. Transfers may occur worldwide.
If the data protection level does not match that of Switzerland, we assess the risk beforehand and ensure contractual guarantees (e.g., EU Standard Contractual Clauses or other legally required measures). If the assessment is negative, we take additional technical measures. You can view the EU Standard Contractual Clauses here: https://commission.europa.eu/publications/standard-contractual-clauses-controllers-and-processors-eueea_de
3.5 How long do we store your data?
We only retain personal data for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected.
Data collected during your website visit is stored for twelve months. Exceptions apply to analytics and tracking data, which may be stored longer.
Contract data is stored longer due to legal requirements, especially business correspondence, contracts, and accounting records, which must be retained for up to 10 years. Once no longer needed for service delivery, the data is blocked and used only for accounting and tax purposes.
3.6 How do we protect your data?
We store your data securely and take all reasonable steps to protect it from loss, access, misuse, or alteration.
Our employees and contractors with access to your data are obligated to comply with data protection regulations. In some cases, your inquiries may be forwarded to affiliated companies – your data remains protected in these cases as well.
Our website uses SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption at the highest level supported by your browser.
3.7 What are your rights?
a. Right to Access
You can request information about the personal data we store about you at any time. Please send your request along with proof of identity to info@tasteomics.com.
You also have the right to receive your data in a common file format if:
- You consented to the processing; or
- You provided the data in connection with a contract.
We may limit or refuse access if it conflicts with legal obligations, our own or public interests, or third-party rights.
We will respond within 30 days. Extensions are possible for legal, technical, or high-volume reasons. You will be informed in due time.
b. Deletion and Correction
You can request the correction or deletion of your data at any time. We may deny the request if legal obligations or other legitimate reasons apply.
Please note that exercising your rights may conflict with contractual obligations and could affect the performance of the contract (e.g., early termination or additional costs).
c. Legal Remedies
If you are affected by the processing of personal data, you have the right to seek legal remedies or file a complaint with the relevant supervisory authority. In Switzerland, this is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner: https://www.edoeb.admin.ch

Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address sent to a Google server in the USA and truncated there.
On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, compile reports on website activity, and provide other services related to website usage and internet usage.
The IP address transmitted by your browser as part of Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data.
You can prevent the storage of cookies by setting your browser software accordingly; however, please note that in this case you may not be able to use all functions of this website to their full extent. When using Google Customer Reviews, data including your IP address, date and time of the survey, and your ratings will be transmitted to and stored on Google servers, which may be located in the USA or other countries.
If you do not wish to participate, you may simply ignore or decline the survey invitation.

We use features of Google My Business, a service of Google LLC. Google My Business allows businesses to manage their presence on Google services such as Search and Maps and engage with customers.
When you visit our website or interact with our Google My Business profile (e.g., leaving reviews or asking questions), data such as your IP address and interaction content is transmitted to and stored on Google servers, possibly in the USA or elsewhere.

Our website uses the Content Delivery Network (CDN) service from Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. A CDN speeds up website content delivery by caching it on a network of fast-loading servers.

4.8 jQuery CDN
We use the jQuery CDN, provided by the jQuery Foundation. jQuery is a widely used JavaScript library for simplifying website functionality.
Using jQuery CDN ensures fast and reliable loading of the library, improving performance and user experience. Cookies and similar technologies may be used, and your IP and browser data may be collected.
If you do not want this data to be collected, you can block external content loading via your browser settings. However, this may impair website functionality.

Use of jsDelivr is based on our legitimate interest in fast, secure website performance.
4.10 Google Maps
We use Google Maps by Google LLC to embed interactive maps on our website. This allows for features like location search and directions.
Visiting pages with embedded Google Maps may result in your IP address and other data being transmitted to Google and stored on servers in the USA or other countries. This can happen regardless of whether you are logged into a Google account.
Google uses this data for personalized advertising and analytics. You can object to the creation of user profiles by contacting Google.
4.11 YouTube
Videos on our website may be embedded from YouTube (Google LLC). When viewing or playing a video, your IP address and browser data are sent to Google servers for video delivery, performance monitoring, and user experience improvements.
If you are logged into your YouTube account, YouTube may link your browsing behavior to your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out.
4.12 Complianz
We use the service “Complianz” by Really Simple Plugins (Keizersgracht 221, 1016 DV Amsterdam, Netherlands) to manage cookie consent in a legally compliant way.
Complianz informs visitors about cookie use and allows them to accept or reject cookie categories. It uses cookies to store users’ preferences, but does not store personal data or share it with third parties.

4.14 Google reCaptcha
To protect our forms, we use Google reCAPTCHA by Google LLC. It helps distinguish human from automated access.
Data such as IP address and user behavior may be sent to Google. By using reCAPTCHA, you agree that your recognition may support the digitization of old texts. With IP anonymization enabled, your IP is shortened within the EU before being stored.
Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to Google in the USA. Your IP is not combined with other Google data.
